Industry news:
China Q2 2026 smartphone shipments declined 2% YoY while high-end brands demonstrated resilience
According to initial data from Counterpoint Research’s market monitor report, China’s smartphone shipments declined 2% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, with a cumulative decline of 3% in the first half. As memory prices continued to rise, smartphone OEMs broadly adopted more conservative production strategies, shifting focus from shipment volume to optimized product mix. However, the high-end market demonstrated notable resilience — Huawei maintained its leading position with a 23% market share, driven by robust demand and steady pricing, achieving 24% year-on-year shipment growth. Apple, buoyed by stable pricing and anticipated price hikes in the third quarter, recorded 23% year-on-year shipment growth, outperforming the broader market.
