Below is a summary of the recent business development of the Company and the industry headlines in May 2026. Regarding the operational metrics, please refer to the Company’s quarterly earnings release and its filings with the U.S. SEC.
Key highlights:
On May 21st, ATRenew released its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. Total net revenues reached RMB6.16 billion, representing a 32.4% year-on-year increase, exceeding the upper end of the guidance. On the profit level, non-GAAP operating profit grew by 70.2% YoY to RMB190 million, and non-GAAP net income grew by 79.6% YoY to RMB140 million. During the quarter, the number of second-hand device transactions reached 10.8 million, up 13.7% YoY. Furthermore, ATRenew actively built offline fulfillment capabilities, including doorstep pickup teams, to provide users with a better recycling and trade-in experience, and increased the proportion of self-operated retail business to provide value-for-money products to more end-users.
From May 23 to 24, the “Carbon Reduction Carnival,” co-organized by AHS Recycle, was held in Yangpu District, Shanghai. With the theme of “Make Carbon Reduction a Part of Every Life,” the event introduced AI interactive devices for immersive tech experiences and added a pet-friendly zone, broadening user participation in the circular economy. This is another “fun” and “useful” carbon reduction interaction project for Shanghai residents following the World Earth Day-themed activities in April.
Industry news:
Forecasts: Global new smartphone shipments to decline by 13.9% YoY in 2026; second-hand market expected to grow 13%
According to Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments are expected to decline by 13.9% YoY to approximately 1.08 billion units in 2026, primarily driven by tight memory supply. While low-end OEMs face risks of market exit, Apple is less affected due to pricing flexibility backed by stable supply and healthy margins. Huawei is the only Chinese OEM expected to achieve positive growth, which is attributable to stable pricing and market share acquisition strategy. Counterpoint believes industry consolidation is likely, while the second-hand and refurbished smartphone market is expected to be a clear beneficiary, with a projected growth of 13% in 2026.
