Key highlights
Since the implementation of China’s national mobile phone and digital product trade-in subsidy program, the demand for recycling and trade-in from users has been strong. In February, business performance of AHS Recycle’s C2B mobile phone and digital product recycling continued to grow rapidly, with C2B mobile phone recycling value increasing by approximately 80% year-on-year.
ATRenew held an all-hands meeting to kick-off 2025. During the meeting, management provided an overview of ATRenew’s strategic judgments and business results of 2024. ATRenew’s positive achievements from prioritizing the consumer-end strategy, increasing investment in new media, and improving user experience were affirmed. The meeting also proposed optimization directions, including strengthening the efficiency of integrated inventory management and internal collaboration. The national subsidy in 2025 is an important opportunity for the development of the second-hand industry and AHS Recycle. ATRenew proposed to focus on three commitments: 1) commitment to experience-driven growth with further investment in retail business, 2) commitment to building the AHS Recycle brand, and 3) commitment to strengthening our fulfillment capabilities. During the meeting, the group commended teams and individuals who achieved outstanding results in 2024.

Research: Global refurbished smartphone market reached new records in 2024
Global refurbished smartphone sales grew 5% year-on-year in 2024, according to Counterpoint Research’s Secondary Smartphone Market Report. Apple was one of only a few OEMs to increase sales in 2024, resulting in its share increasing to 56% from 51% in 2023. Sales of ‘as is’ smartphones – those that are simply cleaned and repackaged with no technical work carried out – grew 13% year-on-year.
